ORGANISERS

John Bullock

John Bullock has succeeded in his career simply by doing. He has a list of impressive achievements throughout his professional life, some of which he has kept under wraps for a long time mostly owing to his humility.

A trained teacher that has inspired many people, a trained accountant who has helped many entrepreneurs save millions of pounds and shaped their business career, a property expert who sold his business for a life changing some just a few years ago. On top of all of that, John is a huge wellness advocate and in combination with wanting to give something back to business in society, he has embarked on his latest project, under the brand pain point coach.

Multifaceted, the business is co-organising The Joy of Flow Retreat designed and delivered to literally change people’s lives. John is also part of a collaboration that delivers well-being in the workplace strategies both in the north-west and across the UK.

And his focus on well-being is underpinned by the practical philosophy of Flow. Helping individuals as part of teams acquire flow, has had a huge positive impact on company performance, productivity and profit.

When John isn’t out at lunchtime or evening events being gregarious and networking in niche groups across the city, you’ll find him beach boxing at 7 am with his merry band of cohorts, keeping fit and generally enjoying life.

Joel Jelen

Joel Jelen is a connector with a strong sense of wellbeing in all his work. A health educator and marketer, Joel’s work in wellness spans nutrition, fitness, mindfulness and breathing education. He is a Fellow of Buteyko Professionals International, the official body for Buteyko method breathing instructors.

He was a pupil of Dr Len McEwan, one of the founding fathers of Chronic Hyperventilation Syndrome (CHS) research & treatment. Joel also completed training in the Buteyko Method with the world’s leading authority in the method Patrick McKeown.

The main focus of Joel’s work is helping people to identify often hidden hyperventilation and how it is typically the missing piece in the ‘holistic jigsaw of health’ as he refers to it. He has helped a diverse range of people from children and young people to those in their 70s with a vitality for life but tainted by respiratory-related conditions. Joel works alongside GPs and dentists via whom he receives regular referrals as the evidence of Buteyko method increases amongst new generations of the medical profession. “Helping people become aware of the traits and causes of over breathing along with the methods to improve our breathing, productivity and associated quality of life is what inspires my work.”

A typical month for Joel involves a range of work from one to one consults with e.g. asthma sufferers and those with chronic fatigue who want to excel in sport again to companies looking to enhance their wellbeing at work programmes. Another ambition of Joel’s is to use more than 25 years of media experience to assist the Buteyko breathing method, Buteyko Professionals International and associated people to win the recognition they deserve in helping to change people’s lives.
