* Throw back Thursday * Bill with his foot ???? in my face.
Bill Super foot Wallace so called due to his propensity to kick with his left leg with incredible accuracy and speed. I recall whilst at seminar in London with Bill Wallace he stood me in the ring whilst he stood outside raised his left leg and with his foot parted my hair. It was obviously his party trick much to everyone’s enjoyment.
In this video we are doing one of his great stretch routines I learnt on that seminar many many years ago. Stretching is one of those things we ignore at own peril. Normally we give priority to stamina, technique and sparring but allow me to explain why it’s so important and why Elvis’s body guard practised what he preached.
Being able to perform head kicks with accuracy and technique is important whether you intend to use them in competition or not. Why? Simply because of energy consumption. If you can throw a kick at hip height using good technique and accuracy it will improve your low kick to the extent you will not exert the energy, used previously, to deliver the kick as it will come easier for the execution. Such that a body kick execution in training will make the hip kick delivery in competition easier and so on with head kicks to body.
Class was performed at the Russ Williams Muay Thai/MMA class in Wrexham.
