How do high achievers start their journey?
What is it that makes them who they are and what they become; nature or nurture? In other words is it what God gave you or is the training you receive or perhaps both?
Itsย been a long worn treaded path by many sociologists and sports coaches who have tried to get the best out of their competitor so they can perform better, stronger, faster and higher at their peak for a longer duration.
Many sociologist now agree that both nature and nurture no doubt help but itโs not the MOST important thing. They now say emotion and imagination are the most important element.
In the following conversation with World Light Heavy Weight Kick Boxing Champion Kevin Ward we learn of his vision (Imagination), and how he uses this to catapult himself to the next level. Kev as he likes to be called, and who am I to argue, talks of his motivation, to be the best there has been, and in him you can see him reflect as he explains what that looks like to him. He is mentally searching for a visualisation of what it looks like. We also get the chance to discuss fear or nerves prior to a fight and we learn how he uses that emotion to not only control leakage in terms of nerves getting the better of him but how he calms himself.
Any future competitor, fighter, martial artist would do well to listen and learn from the current champion as the next could be YOU. Why because in Kevโs own words, โno one sets out to be a champion, you just keep challenging yourself to the best you canโ. Who can ask for more from themselves.
???? Enjoy ????
